We’re engaged! In light of the recent historic US Supreme Court decision, Forum for Equality created a Marriage Equality Committee. We are currently exploring possible litigation to establish marriage equality here in Louisiana. In order to address and remedy the wrong being done to the LGBT community, Forum for Equality needs your help in identifying witnesses who can help us prove to Louisiana and the nation that LGBT married couples are treated unfairly by the State of Louisiana.
- If you are a couple whose marriage, while valid elsewhere, is ignored and discounted in your home state of Louisiana, Forum for Equality wants to hear from you.
- If you know any couple who has been denied specific rights and privileges of marriage, we encourage you to let them know that Forum for Equality is here to listen to them.
Please email your information and short description to our Marriage Equality Committee at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The same-sex marriage ban in Louisiana goes beyond simply denying same-sex couples the right to get married. It fundamentally affects the lives of couples and their families. In the most serious of ways, Louisiana’s refusal to recognize same-sex married couples’ rights is not just a matter of individual concern, but also a matter of human rights.
This won’t be easy. In fact, it will be the hardest challenge we’ve ever taken on, and we hope you will be part of our success. As we build our momentum, remember, how much we can do is up to you. Your contribution of $40 or more lets us know you believe Louisiana is ready. We have a big task to undo the constitutional ban here in the Pelican State. We can’t just hope equality will trickle down some day. We need to fight for equality now.
Together, we can win!
