Tomorrow is the day —House Bill 707 is on the agenda for this Tuesday’s House Civil Law and Procedure Committee meeting. Along with our coalition partners, we will be out in full-force at the State Capitol for the hearing on Mike Johnson’s injurious ‘Marriage and Conscience Act.’
True and full religious freedom does not involve legalizing discrimination against the LGBT residents of our state, and faith leaders from across the state agree. We need to be sure that our legislators are aware of the negative consequences that will result from such insidious legislation, despite HB 707’s proponents’ best efforts to disguise its purpose. Tell your legislator now to oppose HB 707.
In order to help stop this bill in its tracks and ensure it never sees the House Floor, we need a large presence of LGBT allies at tomorrow’s hearing. We also need support for HB 612, the Louisiana Non-Discrimination Act (LANA), which will also be heard tomorrow. If you can attend, which we hope you will, plan on arriving at the State Capitol, House Committee Room 4 before the Committee meets at 9AM.
